Monthly Missions Message"From the Mouths of Babes"January 2003
We are now living in the city that God laid upon our hearts—Legazpi City, Albay. We’re trying to get settled in the house that God provided for us, but our shipment of household belongings our tied up in customs in Manila. This has been a major concern for us since we packed our belongings last May. We have heard horror stories about dealing with all the “red tape” involved with trans-shipments. Then during church, I asked my daughter what she has been worried about recently. Remarkably, she too was concerned about our shipment. Her life, as she remembers it, is packed away in the depths of that container. But then she said to me, “But don’t worry Dad, God will take care of our stuff, just like He takes care of everything else!” Jesus said it like this, “With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26b) Please continue to pray for us as we are learning each day to trust God more and more to lead us, protect us, provide for us, and sustain us to do His work according to His will!

I
am continually amazed at the depth of comprehension that my five year old
daughter has. As we were having church recently, we were talking about the new
year and trusting God to take care of us in the days ahead. As we look back at
2002, there were a whole host of unknowns for which God faithfully provided the
answers. We left a church in Palestine, Texas, and a group of people that we
loved dearly to move 12,000 miles away to a land whose language and culture were
completely unknown to us. We moved to the Philippines without knowing in what
city or even on what island we would eventually settle. We continually face
situations that the outcome is unknown to us—and I must confess, in all
these situations, we have worried about the outcome. But as you know, in all
these situations, God has proven Himself to be faithful to direct us and provide
for us. This brings me back to my daughter…
